Interview With Noe Alfaro, Republic, RAMMYS Employee of the Year Finalist

The Restaurant Association Metropolitan Washington (RAMW) presents Noe Alfaro, an Employee of the Year finalist for the 2017 RAMMY Awards Gala on July 30. The Employee of the Year award is given to someone who serves as a model employee by displaying outstanding service, an excellent work ethic and a positive image. This excludes managerial positions, giving house employees an opportunity to display their hard work. ​

Noe Alfaro, Prep Cook

How did you get started in the business? What was your first job in the industry and what did you learn from it?
I Started as a dishwasher at Addie’s, I learned how to prepare food, cut fish, chicken, make sauces, etc.

Where do you see yourself in five years?
Still with BRG (“happy”)

What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
“Work is work”

Why do you love working in restaurants?
BRG treats family the right way, food is bomb

What profession other than your own would you like to attempt?
Own a restaurant / open one in El Salvador

What is your favorite ingredient?
Coriander

What insider foodie tip do you have for diners?
Empanadas – People love them because they are simple and always made with love

You’re hosting a dream dinner party.  What three people would be at your table?
My wife (Santo Areli de Alfaro), my son (Anthony) and my Friend (Irene)

It’s the last meal of your life  - what’s on your plate?
Empanadas

What are your pet peeves?
When someone interrupts dinner.
