Austrian Wine Dinner at The Dish & Dram

The Dish & Dram presents an Austrian Wine Dinner ($85) on March 26. The dinner features wines from co-owner Zena Polin’s wine tasting travels across Austria. Special guest, Klaus Wittauer, has been traveling, purchasing, selling, discovering and studying wines for more than 20 years. He will be taking guests on a journey across the Austrian countryside as he describes each of the wines that have been selected for the event.
 
Following a thirty-minute welcome reception featuring Hillinger Secco Sparkling Rose and a selection of housemade sausages, liptauer cheese crostini and F’rose shots (made from Steiniger Austrian rose) there are an additional four courses paired with Austrian wines carefully selected to entice the palate. Mini weiner schnitzel sandwiches on pretzel bread with Austrian potato and cucumber salad is paired in course two with Paul D Gruner Veltliner, The Dish & Dram’s house wine. Course three features Joseph Bauer Hengstberg Riesling and a duo of trout, smoked and carpaccio. Anton Bauer Wagram Reserve is served with a rack of lamb and lamb loin with grilled seasonal vegetables. The last course is the Klaus Cuvee, a limited edition dessert wine, from Steindorfer winery served with cardinal slice (kardinalschnitte).
 
The Austrian wine dinner is $85, including tax, tip and fees.
