2012 RAMMY Awards Announces Gala Date and Introduces New Award Category

The “Oscars of DC Restaurants” Will Celebrate TopIndustry Achievements on June 24, 2012 and Presents New “Casual Restaurant ofthe Year” Category
WASHINGTON, DC (December 2, 2011) – Annually honoringthe extraordinary achievements of Washington, DC’s restaurant industry, theRestaurant Association Metropolitan Washington (RAMW) is excited to announcethe date for the 2012 RAMMY Gala: Sunday, June 24, 2012 at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel.Bringing together over 1,500 of DC’s top restaurateurs, culinary talents andindustry power players, the annual RAMMYS gala honors everything from “Best NewRestaurant,” “Chef of the Year” and “Hottest Bar Scene,” and this year willintroduce a new category: “CasualRestaurant of the Year.”
The new category isthe first addition to the award lineup since the Mixology Program of the Yearcategory was introduced in 2010. Honoringa class of restaurants ranging from quick casual to smaller, favoriteneighborhood spots, the new Casual diningcategory will open up awards opportunities to a more casual class ofrestaurants which have demonstrated a dedication to quality of food, uniqueexperience, service and value in a casual environment. The nominee must have been in business aminimum of two years by December 1, 2011.
“The Casual Dining Restaurant of the Year categoryopens up recognition possibilities to the dining establishments that wefrequent day after day. Our favorite quick lunch spots that “make our day”daily and the corner bistro we couldn’t live without,” says LynneBreaux, President of the RAMW.
