RAMMYS IN FOCUS Semi-Finalists Announced

Selected Photographs Highlight Region’s Restaurant Industry

Washington, D.C. (April 8, 2015)—Restaurant Association Metropolitan Washington (RAMW) and FotoDC have unveiled the semi-finalists in the first ever RAMMYS IN FOCUS photography contest, presented by Pepco.  Selected photographs were chosen among hundreds of entries from some of the region’s top photographers, to represent the faces of the DC area’s restaurant community.  The photographs are currently online in a digital gallery hosted by FotoDC, and will be part of an innovative, new exhibition that will debut at the 33rd annual RAMMY Awards and Gala, Sunday, June 7 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center

To build the RAMMYS IN FOCUS collection, FotoDC selected local photographers who have each spent the last six weeks on assignment in and around the region’s diverse restaurants.  They submitted portfolios of their work, wherein food, drinks, kitchens and bars, servers, cooks, and diners, were featured as integral pieces of the area’s dynamic dining scene.  The winning photographers will be honored at the RAMMYS, where their photographs will be recognized during a special presentation, and one photograph will be selected as the winner.

About RAMW

Restaurant Association Metropolitan Washington (RAMW) is the regional trade association representing restaurants and the foodservice industry in the Washington, DC Metropolitan Area. Established in 1920, RAMW is an advocate, resource and community for its members. The Association works to promote and sustain the growth and development of the industry while providing its members legislative and regulatory representation, marketing and small business support, programming and events. RAMW strives to serve its members with professionalism and integrity, and provide them the training, education and support they need to grow a successful business.

About FotoDC
Whether through fine art photography, photojournalism, or the work of emerging artists, FotoDC provides a dynamic, evocative, engaging experience for photographers, cultural institutions, galleries, curators, schools, area residents, and tens of thousands of viewers. Founded as FotoWeekDC in 2008, the weeklong photography festival initially attracted 20,000 participants; including professional and amateur photographers, photography lovers, and partners such as National Geographic, the Corcoran Gallery of Art, The Smithsonian Institution, and various local art galleries. In 2009, the organization received non-profit status and began developing programs to include professional development and new exhibition venues. In response to demand for year-round programming, FotoWeek DC rebranded in 2011 to become FotoDC, and launched new programs to provide greater exposure for all photographers, new venues for exhibitions and new programs for students and youth. The annual Festival in November continues to be FotoDC’s largest project with over 40,000 attendees each year.
