Be Right Back! DC Health Link Goes Offline to Prepare For Open Enrollment

November 4, 2014

DC Health Link, the District’s go-to online marketplace to shop for health insurance, will be offline this week to make updates to its portal. This upgrade comes in preparation for the start of open enrollment for individuals and families -  which will be November 15, 2014 through February 15, 2015.

Here are some changes you can expect to see on the site when DC Health Link goes back online this Friday, November 7:

  • Automatic Renewal – DC Health Link will automatically renew individuals and families who enrolled in a health plan through the health exchange in 2014 in the same plan, or a very similar plan for 2015, unless they choose to select new coverage.
  • Click, Don’t Call for a Life Change – Individuals and families will now how have the option to use the online portal to change their plans for eligible life events including a change in marital status or the birth of a child.
  • Network Information for Small Businesses – Small business owners looking to enroll in the small business exchange will now be able to access larger network information to ensure they select plans that meet their needs including the ability to see if the plan they are choosing has a national or local network of physicians.
  • Side By Side Plan Comparisons – Individuals, families and small businesses will now have access to more information about each plan’s specific options that will allow for side by side comparisons making them easier to understand.
