Adolescents Are Ditching Alcohol for Cannabis at a High Rate
New research shows that alcohol abuse among adolescents is diminishing while cannabis misuse is on the rise. Joseph Tasosa, MD, a psychiatrist and addiction medicine specialist at Kaiser Permanente, joined Healthline to discuss the harmful effects of cannabis on the adolescent brain, including psychosis and anxiety attacks.

Kaiser Permanente opens D.C. LGBTQ medical center
Kaiser Permanente’s Pride Medical Center on Capitol Hill, an optional, additional site of care for LGBTQ+ patients, held a reception, panel discussion, and a ribbon-cutting ceremony on November 1st. Panelist Keith Egan, MD, a primary care physician and Pride Medical founder, discussed with Washington Blade the benefits of Pride Medical, including experienced healthcare providers committed to care equity and navigating the healthcare system so their patients can get the support they need to be healthy.
 
Kaiser ready to unveil new Springfield Medical Center
Kaiser Permanente has opened its new medical center in Springfield, VA. Cheryl Keys, physician-in-chief of Kaiser Permanente’s Northern Virginia operations, joined WashingtonBusiness Journal to discuss its services. The Springfield Medical Center will provide primary and specialty care services, including dermatology, orthopedics, and ophthalmology. It will also offer physical therapy, pharmacy, laboratory, and imaging, such as mammography, ultrasound, X-ray, and bone density scans.
