Restaurant Association Metropolitan Washington (RAMW) offers spring, summer, and fall internship opportunities in Government Affairs and Member Advocacy for self-motivated individuals with an interest in public policy in the food, beverage, and hospitality industry. RAMW offers a hands-on, meaningful internship experience that provides:

Skill- and knowledge-building opportunities in the field of public policy, especially as it relates to small business.

Training and experience in professional writing, research, and database management.

Opportunities to build the intern’s professional network.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Working closely with the Program Director, major responsibilities of the Government Affairs and Member Advocacy Intern include:

Monitoring and reporting on legislation in city and county governments in the Washington metropolitan area, with a strong focus on the District of Columbia.

Updating and maintaining records of local policy makers and key staff.

Updating and maintaining membership database, including reviewing current district and point of contact information.

Assisting with drafting and reviewing membership surveys.
-
Assisting with drafting policy briefs for internal and external stakeholders and related content for policy and advocacy materials.

Providing logistical support for meetings with policy makers and staff as needed.

Assisting with day-to-day administrative duties as needed.
