Worker Support - Meals, Perishables, Supplies

March 16, 2020

As an association we are focused on protecting restaurant operators during this incredible time for you as a business owner, we have also heard from so many of you about your concerns rooted in your employees. There are some local grassroots efforts to help workers, as you may have seen.

We are collaborating with Hook Hall Helps who are helping to ensure that workers have access to to-go meals and supplies. We started a Worker Relief Fund as well that has raised $14,000+ in 48 hours. First and foremost, we needed to just act on something quickly. This will be used first to ensure that people get supplies and meals in their hands.

We know you are making hard decisions on what you are going to do in terms of your business for the next few weeks. There are a few things you can do right now whether you are deciding to close up shop, or remain open for take-out and delivery options.

HERE ARE THINGS YOU CAN DO:

Prepare Meal Kits

Consider keeping your kitchen open one more day to ensure there are meals for workers who are without work.

Hook Hall Helps is looking for restaurateurs who are willing to build as many packaged to-go meals as possible for industry workers that can be refrigerated or frozen for pickup, either at your location or via a partner.

If you can provide meals – CLICK HERE.

Partners like Mark Michael at Occasions Catering have already stepped up with fleets of trucks and stand ready to come pick up anything that you can donate, along with any perishables or non-perishables that you’re willing to have gleaned from your kitchen.  Chefs have offered their talents to turn gleaned goods into meals.

If you have items to glean – CLICK HERE.

Everyone sits with the same uncertainty around how the next few weeks will unfold. Together, we as hospitality can unite to ensure that fear and uncertainty aren’t made worse by hunger.
