Meriwether Godsey is looking for a Baker, responsible for the preparation, cooking, and presentation for baked goods for daily meals and special events at Virginia Theological Seminary, a flagship seminary school located in the heart of Alexandria, VA.

What you will do:
•Ensure quality and timeliness of food production, using batch-cooking methods to maintain quality and freshness of the product.
•Use traditional, made from scratch preparation methods and keep accurate production logs.
•Ensuring that the daily bakery range is made to a high standard in a timely, safe and consistent manner.
•Prepare doughs, fillings, batters, icings and other components by measuring or weighing ingredients using graduated containers or scales to ensure uniformity.
•Use tools such as hand mixers, electric mixers and cooking machinery to blend together ingredients to create high-quality baked goods.
•Cook prepared baked goods in ovens or on grills as needed, using molds, pans or sheets, depending on the proper baking technique for the item.
•Decorate cakes, pastries and other baked goods, including custom-made decorations for birthdays, weddings and other special events.
•Work collaboratively alongside other production staff to incorporate key ingredients/products into recipe and menu offerings on a daily basis
•Will assist in the production of some savory foods including some composed and bound salads and other items as needed
•Assist in maintaining quality and performing tasks quickly and efficiently
•Adhere to food safety, sanitation standards, and all HACCP recordings

What you need:
•Culinary Degree or a minimum of 4 years bakery experience preferred
•Experience with high volume food service operations, preferably school environments.
•High levels of professionalism and strong leadership skills
•Excellent communication and good organizational skills
•Flexibility; ability to switch between locations and job duties
•Growing knowledge of sustainable practices.
•ServSafe® Food Protection Manager Certification preferred
•Reliable Transportation
