Position Description

Position Title: Greeter

Department: Restaurant

Reports to: Restaurant Management Team FLSA Designation: Nonexempt

POSITION PURPOSE:

Greeting and escorting guests to tables in the restaurant, maintaining a courteous and efficient operation of the restaurant resulting in a very high level of guest satisfaction and repeat business.

25 • Immediately greet and welcome guests in a friendly and courteous manner, receives personal belongings and handles coat check. Escorts the guests to their seat when required to.

20 • Answer the telephone within two rings. Speak clearly using a friendly and professional tone of voice. Enter the reservation, correctly into the reservation system Open Table. Takes messages when necessary and distributes them to the appropriate manager for handling.

15 • Keep menus, check presenter, station, entry and front lobby area clean, by wiping with a damp cloth and glass cleaner daily. Restocks business cards, matches and toothpicks.

15 • Act as a liaison between the guest and restaurant staff. Ensure that the guest is pleased upon their seating and after their dining experience.

15 . Organize coat check area including hangers, coat check tickets. Fill check presenter

with customer mailing cards. Gives completed cards to manager on duty.

10 • Receive, record and make any necessary arrangements for reservations and special functions in the restaurant. Provide information regarding Catering and special events.

Other:

Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established by Café Milano from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position. Employees with irregular attendance may be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.

Due to the cyclical nature of the restaurant industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the restaurant.

Upon employment, all employees are required to fully comply with the rules and regulations for the safe and efficient operation of the restaurant facilities. Employees who violate restaurant rules and regulations will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.

SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS:

In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the particular requirements of the restaurant.

Maintain an open line of communication between guests, management and line employees.
SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.

Knowledge of restaurant operations, to include guest relations.
Ability to read the English language to fully comprehend guest requests, memos, reservations, promotional materials, event orders and similar written materials
Ability to remember, recite and promote the variety of menu items.
Ability to move throughout a crowded room to seat guests.
Ability to effectively deal with customer complaints and concerns in a friendly and positive manner. This involves listening to the nature of the concern, demonstrating empathy with the customer and providing positive and proactive solutions.
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS

Education:

Any combination of education, training and experience equivalent to graduation from high school that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. High school diploma preferred.

Experience:

Must be a minimum of 21 years of age. Prior restaurant / customer service related experience preferred.

Grooming:

All employees must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance (specific standards available).

Other:

Additional language preferred. Additional duties as assigned by Manager.
