General Manager (Restaurant) - District Winery
Job Description
The General Manager (Restaurant) is responsible for managing the District Winery restaurant and tasting bar operations, including overseeing front of house management team and hourly staff. The goal of this position is to lead, mentor, and coach a stellar team of individuals and ensure that District Winery operates at the highest level of quality, providing exemplary customer satisfaction and guest experiences.

Key Responsibilities
Achieve company’s restaurant and tasting bar revenue targets by leading a team of managers and hourly staff to provide exceptional service to guests
Maintain proper staffing levels by analyzing team schedules, business levels, and customer satisfaction
Build employee schedules and continually adjust throughout the week, adhering to business levels and company labor targets.
Lead weekly restaurant managers and tasting bar meetings to go over goals, priorities, concerns, staff development, and pre-shift training
Work with BOH & Winery to ensure that new product launches are integrated seamlessly into the menu and that staff is continually trained on the details of each product
Facilitate open communication between managed staff and other departments
Devise, create, and implement ongoing FOH training. This includes new hire training and testing along with continued staff education including weekly pre-shift staff training curriculum
Oversee the inventory and ordering of beverages, china/silver/glass, paper goods, and other service related items
Manage and organize the POS system including the input of current staff members and all menu items
Assist Executive Chef with food costing and pricing
Respond to general Contact Us and other inquiries related to the restaurant, tasting bar, and tours
Promote and implement relevant marketing promotions and specials
Work with Human Resources department to ensure employees are properly on-boarded/off-boarded and employee paperwork is in good standing
Aid in creation, revision, and implementation of SOPs, policies & procedures
Manage restaurant reservations including, but not limited to, responding to reservation inquiries, large party requests, date night packages and general OpenTable maintenance
Manage and optimize large party inquiries and oversee seamless execution of their meals
Manage Tour and Wine events schedule and availability
Work with Marketing Department to staff and facilitate any off-site wine events
Interact with guests throughout service to monitor satisfaction and ensure a positive and memorable experience
Work with head bartender to develop and appropriately cost seasonal cocktail and beer programs
Work with Tasting Bar lead to ensure sales goals are created and met
Manage online fulfillment of wine orders
Lead the team in service, ensuring that all standards are adhered to
Actively coach the team throughout service, providing ongoing feedback and development
Manage the restaurant's appearance and atmosphere
Manage online review platforms (Yelp, OpenTable, Google), address any guest issues and work towards a positive outcome
Maintain or improve company rating score on review platforms
Perform opening and closing procedures for the restaurant and tasting bar
Maintain a safe environment for both guests and staff

5+ years of experience in restaurant management
Maintain a current ABRA Manager license
TIPs Certified
Must have a deep passion for service, hospitality, and providing memorable guest experiences
Must have a flexible schedule with the ability to work weekends, nights and holidays
Enthusiastic, self-motivated, and outgoing
Ability to establish productive relationships with people at all levels
Desire to provide leadership to a team, and to inspire and cultivate each member individually
Maintain a positive and adaptable approach to problem solving
Ability to thrive in a team environment
Must demonstrate proficient knowledge and use of computer and basic programs (e.g., Google Suite including Google Docs & Spreadsheets, Aloha POS)
Detail oriented and exceptional organizational skills
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment, competently handling demanding deadlines
Ability to analyze department operations, identify areas of improvement, provide data-based support, and present findings, solutions, and recommendations to senior management
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interface with clients; must demonstrate professional phone and business etiquette
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Knowledge of and appreciation of wine strongly preferred
Hospitality degree a plus
