POSITION SUMMARY:

The Tasting Room Manager (TRM) at DC Brau Brewing Company is part of the Marketing and Sales team and the lead of the Growler Hours team. The TRM is responsible for planning, directing, and overseeing all aspects of DC Brau’s tasting room operations, including managing staff, ensuring product and guest service standards are met, and implementing and maintaining procedures for maximum operating efficiency. This management position reports directly to the CEO. The TRM works in coordination with the brewhouse, packaging, administrative, events, and sales staff. The TRM may also be asked to participate in DC Brau events and promotional activities outside of the brewery. Tasting room hours are approximately Thursday through Friday from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM, Saturday from 11:30 AM to 10:00 PM, and Sunday from 11:30 AM to 7:00 PM. Hours are subject to change based on need of DC Brau and District of Columbia law.

POSITION SPECIFIC DUTIES:

❖ Tasting Room Management Activities:
● Serve DC Brau beer in a fashion that communicates the brewery’s passion for quality, knowledge, and customer service at all times.
● Explain DC Brau brands in an accessible, engaging way to guests both familiar and new to the brewery’s brands.
● Maintain an ABRA ABC Manager’s License and ensure tasting room has adequate number of licensed ABC Managers on staff per shift.
● Ensure that the tasting bar pre and post shift activities and duties are completed in collaboration with Growler Hours Staff.
● Ensure the tasting bars are clean, stocked, and ready for customers and facilitate the flow of tasting bar activity.
● Ensure that all tasting room attendees have their IDs checked before making a purchase.
● Promote and practice compliance with fire, health, safety and hygiene standards and regulations.
● Work with CEO and HRAM to set, monitor, and control budget for the tasting room.
● Plan and implement systems to maximize tasting room sales and revenue.
● Work with Office Coordinator to track, maintain, and coordinate the procurement of supplies for smooth weekly implementation of GH for both tasting room and growler station.
● Oversee and maintain a bar display that maximizes functionality and attractiveness.
● Monitor product inventory and coordinate with Warehouse & Logistics Coordinator to replenish stock weekly. Check that stock is correctly rotated and stored to reduce wastage.
● Manage table reservations for large groups during Growler Hours.
● Stay current with relevant legislation regarding service of alcohol and licensing.
● Understand, abide by, and enforce federal and District regulations applicable to the establishment.
● Assure all sales information and cash counts are accurately maintained and communicated to the CEO and HRAM, including cash dropped into the lock box at the end of the workday.
● Communicates with guests regarding service and product quality and steps in to rectify problems and trains staff to do the same.
● Oversee management of the tasting room space and be able to problem-solve and address issues that arise. Communicate clearly and regularly with leadership regarding larger concerns and challenges.
● Ensure the management and maintenance of draft and beer dispensing equipment.

❖ Staff Management:
● Manage Growler Hours staff and ensure that they are effectively and efficiently completing their tasks and meeting the expectations and guidelines of their positions.
● Set up and maintain schedule for Growler Hours Staff, including weekly assurance that the tasting room will be adequately staffed each shift.
● Set up and maintain schedule for staffing of on-site events in coordination with the Events Coordinator.
● Complete spreadsheet of tips per pay period by Monday of pay week and provide data to HRAM for payroll processing.
● Work with HRAM to conduct hiring and training of new employees.
● Facilitate ongoing management of staff and conduct performance reviews for Growler Hours employees, as needed.
● Communicate company policy, standards and procedures to staff regularly through pre-shift meetings and email communication.

❖ Coordination & Activities:
● Work closely with Events Coordinator to coordinate and implement both public and private brewery events.
● On occasion work with leadership / managers to coordinate staffing of on- and off-site events.
● Coordinate food vendors and develops a food vendor schedule. Ensure that there is a food vendor on premises for all weekend GH operations.
● Coordinate with DC Brau staff and non-profits partners regarding special events and fundraisers. Work with CCCO to plan programming and to assure compliance with federal and District regulations.
● Coordinate with artists and other talent for GH performances and/or exhibitions.
● Work with CCCO, Office Coordinator, and Warehouse & Logistics Coordinator to arrange donation / sales pickups and tracking.
● Coordinate schedule of private tours with external tour companies.
● Update daily draft lists to reflect current draft and packaged offerings.
● Maintain taproom point-of-sale system, including software updates and tablet maintenance.
● On occasion promote DC Brau outside of the brewery at festivals and other beer events.

Compensation Details:

Full-time Exempt Salary Position (40+ hours a week); Health, dental and vision insurance offered; after a year we offer access to our Simple IRA program, and a generous paid leave program (sick and vacation).
