Citi Open® Tennis Tournament to Hold Exclusive Player Party at Restaurant Association Metropolitan Washington's 2017 RAMMYS

May 2, 2017

Racquets and restaurants come together as the Citi Open® Tennis Tournament partners with Restaurant Association Metropolitan Washington (RAMW) for the third year on three culinary-centric programs and events for foodies and sports fans alike.

The invitation-only Citi Open Player Party, attended by tournament players and VIPs, will be held for the first time ever at the 2017 RAMMY Awards Gala, July 30th at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. The gala, now in its 35th year, honors the best in Washington’s culinary and hospitality community and features the best food, drink, and party DC has to offer.

“The combined RAMMYS and Citi Open Player Party will infuse the best of Washington’s culinary scene and some of the world’s best tennis in this glamorous, black-tie soiree, which is definitely DC’s party of the year,” said Citi Open Tournament Director, Keely O’Brien. “It’s a natural partnership — food and sports complement each other.”

In addition, RAMW will once again offer a Citi Open Dining Passport to tournament players and their guests. Dozens of world-class restaurants participate in the passport, which provides the player with a complimentary meal and encourages them to venture around the city through its vibrant dining scene.

“The Citi Open Tournament is such a fantastic event for Washington, DC’s residents and visitors each year, said Kathy Hollinger, President and CEO of RAMW. It is an experience not to be missed and RAMW is thrilled to partner once again to connect tennis fans and tournament players with incredible dining experiences before, during, and after the Tournament. And the chefs and restaurants are equally excited to welcome players and VIPs to the RAMMYS at the Player Party.

Another RAMW activation for this year’s tournament is its participation in the Citi Open Official Kickoff Party, to be held Friday, July 28 at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center. RAMW will invite a select group of restaurateurs to showcase their restaurants at the unique ticketed event, which also includes the tournament’s Official Draw Ceremony and live music. More details to come.

The Citi Open Tennis Tournament will be held July 29 to August 6 at the Rock Creek Park Tennis Center on 16th and Kennedy Streets NW. The international event directly benefits local kids and youth through the Washington Tennis & Education Foundation, the tournament’s owner and beneficiary. Courtside box seats and a variety of ticket packages are now on sale at www.citiopentennis.com or the hotline at 202-721-9500. Single session tickets will be available starting Tuesday, April 18.

The Citi Open Tennis Tournament is one of only 13 elite ATP World Tour 500-level events worldwide and the only one held in the United States. The tournament also features a WTA International Tournament, which provides fans the opportunity to watch simultaneous competitions of both world-class men’s and women’s tennis throughout the nine-day event. It is one of only four U.S. tournaments that include both men’s and women’s fields. Main draw matches of the tournament will be broadcast starting Monday, July 31, on Tennis Channel.
