TWWF Sexual Harassment Training with RAMW
The Tipped Wage Workers Fairness Amendment Act (TWWFAA) requires District employers who hire individuals earning tips as wages to inform their employees about their rights and benefits. Some of the laws providing these rights are enforced by The Office of Human Rights (OHR) and others are enforced by the Department of Employment Services (DOES). This Act was part of the repeal of Initiative 77.
The deadline to complete the training has been extended by OHR to August 31, 2023.
One requirement of the Act is that businesses who employ at least one tipped wage worker must receive sexual harassment training every two years by an OHR-certified trainer. RAMW has been working with Kevin Cardwell and Mina Raskin of Cardwell Raskin LLC to deliver the training to ensure it is tailored to the hospitality industry. OHR has certified them as a provider.
RAMW and Cardwell Raskin LLC will resume hosting in-person training sessions for managers, and zoom trainings for employees and owner/operators throughout the next few months where you can sign up individual operators, managers, or employees.
There are no RAMW hosted in-person or Zoom trainings currently scheduled as we work to find a cost-effective solution for the industry. However, you are able to schedule/attend classes offered by the certified trainers as outlined by OHR in the interim. Businesses who want to schedule training specific to their group can contact RAMW (info@ramw.org) to be connected with preferred trainers.
