Anti Valentine's Day Dinner

February 13, 2016 - 5:00pm to February 14, 2016 - 9:00pm

The Daily Dish offers an Anti-Valentine’s Day menu
On Love and Politics

February may be for lovers, and the 14th for everyone coupled, but this year, it’s also the start of some of the craziest politicking we’ve ever seen. With that in mind The Daily Dish created an Anti-Valentine’s Day menu inspired by Love and Politics. For those feeling, well, a little less than that loving feeling, take a seat at the cocktail bar for a special Anti-Valentine’s Day menu, while those who are entwining glasses in a romantic toast can savor the $50 prix fixe menu of lovely loving specialties. Both are served February 13 and 14, 5pm to 9pm.

Chef/Owner Jerry Hollinger and Co-owner Zena Polin start the evening off with It’s Not You, It’s Me Happy Hour for Singles and a trio of stinky breath inspired treats: Pickled Veggies $5, Garlic and Anchovy Flatbread $6, and Charred Brussels Sprouts with Blue Cheese Dip $7. The bartenders are ready with a shot of tequila and a sympathetic ear, aka a Shot Through the Heart $6. Want revenge? Have a Dark, Stormy and Divorced, Ginger Beer and Rum, served separately $8.

That “I hate you, but I love you” feeling is the inspiration for The Donald and Hillary Go On a Date, Blood Sausage served with a very sharp knife $10. There’s an ode to Bernie Sanders with the Hunk of “Bern”-ing Love, Jalapeno Pimento Cheese Dip with Garlic Crostini $10. Because both Politics and Love Stink, have a platter of Stinky Cheeses with Housemade Pickled Veggies, Bacon Jam and Spiced Nuts $15, add Canadian Bacon (born in the USA) “wink wink” Ted Cruz. For those looking for someone to blame try The Devil Made Me Do It, Deviled Eggs Topped with Caviar $10. The confident singleton will demand the Eat Your Heart Out, Heart Shaped, Crab Stuffed Ravioli stuffed with Artichoke Hearts and Roasted Red Pepper Sauce $14, $28 or the Cupid Rhymes with Stupid, a juicy Beef Tenderloin with Anchovy Butter $36. End the evening with As Dark as My Soul, A Chocolate Bacon Cigar and a Manhattan, on the rocks of course $15.

“It’s useless to hold a person to anything he says when he’s in love, drunk or running for office,” Shirley MacLaine.
