DC Tops Nation in ACA Enrollment Percentage

March 22, 2016

A new analysis by the Kaiser Family Foundation shows that the District of Columbia leads the nation in enrolling eligible residents through its health insurance marketplace. Kaiser’s analysis shows that the District has enrolled the highest percentage of people nationwide—74-percent—who are eligible for health insurance coverage through a health insurance marketplace under the Affordable Care Act.

“This is great news and further evidence that the Affordable Care Act is working in the District of Columbia,” said Mila Kofman, J.D., Executive Director of the DC Health Benefit Exchange Authority. “These results reflect the commitment and strong efforts of our team, sister agencies, health insurance brokers, the faith-based community, and our other community partners and made possible because of the support of policy makers. DC Health Link and its partners work hard every day to find people who are uninsured and to cover every eligible person who lives or works in the District. This new study shows that those efforts are paying off.”
