December Restaurant Performance Index Rose to Highest Level in Nearly Two Years

Same-storesales and customer traffic levels increased but remained negative inDecember; Industry outlook improved as Expectations Index rose to an8-month high
 
(Washington,D.C.)  Driven by improvements in both business performance andexpectations for future business conditions, the National RestaurantAssociation’s comprehensive index of restaurant activity rose to itshighest level in 22 months in December.  The Association’s RestaurantPerformance Index (RPI) – a monthly composite index that tracks thehealth of and outlook for the U.S. restaurant industry – stood at 98.7in December, up 0.9 percent from November and its strongest level innearly two years.  Read the full press release .   Watch a video on the RPI/2010 Restaurant Industry Forecast .
