With less than three weeks to go until the EagleBank Bowl’s second annual football game at RFK Stadium, organizers announced plans for a large tailgating party before the game.

In partnership with the Restaurant Association Metropolitan Washington Education Foundation, the event will be held inside the D.C. Armory on game day, with all-you-can-eat tickets for $20 for adults and beer for $2. Is it still being discussed whether wine or liquor will be allowed.

Participants include Clyde’s, J. Paul’s, Old Glory and Tony and Joe’s.

Organizers are expecting the Armory, which can fit 10,000 people, to draw about 3,000 to 5,000 attendees on game day.

“People will congregate with one side Temple and the other side of the room will either be West Point or UCLA. It will be good bantering back and forth before the game,” said Bob Pincus, vice chairman of EagleBank.

EA Sports will provide interactive games on site at the event, which will draw students, pep bands, and cheerleaders.

Temple University, which will be playing in their first bowl game in 30 years, has 27,000 students and a 9-3 football record. Its opponent is contingent on the outcome of the Army-Navy game Dec. 12 in Philadelphia. If Army beats Navy, Army will advance to their first bowl game since 1996. If Army loses to Navy, Temple will face UCLA in the EagleBank Bowl.

“We are excited about either one, but candidly, Army would enhance attendance. But the name UCLA presents a cache that might generate more local fans,” he said.

In the D.C. area, there are more than 9,000 UCLA alumni or people that were previously affiliated with the school.

The returning charitable partner is the Wounded Warriors Project. There are twice as many sponsors signed on this year. The sponsor list includes Ameritel, Verizon, Akridge, Mama Lucia and many others.

Organizers are working with Amtrak to bring down visitors from West Point, if they play, as well as students and fans from Temple in Philadelphia.

Temple will meet Army or UCLA in the game on Dec. 29, which will be broadcast live on ESPN starting at 4:30 p.m.
