RAMMY’S 2011 “Carnevale da Cuisine” To Award DC Area Restaurant Industry Accomplishments
Announcement and Logo Unveiling Hosted by Mexico at Mexican Cultural Institute

WASHINGTON, DC (January 31, 2011) – Last week, RAMW introduced The RAMMY Restaurant Awards Gala and fundraiser theme and logo at a fabulous event hosted by Mexico and the Ministry of Agriculture of Mexico (SAGARPA) at the stunning Mexican Cultural Institute.  The RAMMYS 2011 kick-off event featured a Fiesta Night including a spicy Mexican fare menu created by Mexican Cultural Institute Executive Chef Pati Jinich and executed by Main Event Caterers.

2011 marks the 29th annual RAMMY gala which will occur on June 26, 2011 at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel and will give awards in sixteen categories including Chef, Rising Culinary Star, New Restaurant, Power Spot and Hottest Bar Scene of the Year and the most recently added category Beverage/Mixology Program of the Year.

Each year The RAMMYS has a theme that takes on a life of its own, this year’s whimsical logo was created once again by Design Army.  RAMW President Lynne Breaux explained at the unveiling, “The theme was chosen as the DC Dining Scene has really become a Carnevale da Cuisine. The 2011 RAMMYS celebrate the DC Region’s culinary success and the wide diversity of restaurants with cuisines from around the globe—carnevale style!”

The wonderful Fiesta night menu included fresh Mexican Wild Shrimp from Mexican Shrimp Paradise; Mayan Octopus and bean stew from Congeladora Velazquez; Mexican Avocado stuffed with pork belly from APEAM; Cactus Leaf salad and a traditional cactus soup from Mexico Fresco; a Mexican Beef carving station from Karnika del Papaloapan.

The beverage service highlighted Mezcal from Mezcal Sinai; Tequila from the Tequila Chamber of Mexico; and Mexican Coffee from Café de Mexico, in addition to beer provided by Crown Imports and water from Fiji Water.

Tequila and Mezcal craft cocktails were served by mixologists by Brennan Adams,TenPenh; J.P. Fetherston, The Columbia Room & The Passenger; and Damian Torguson, Brasserie Beck.
