Help Support the FRESH Food Drive!
Help get fresh, local, nutritious food onto the tables of your neighbors in need this Thanksgiving by donating to FRESHFARM’s annual FRESH Food Drive! The FRESH Food Drive is an important part of the nonprofit’s work with their gleaning partners: emergency food assistance organizations in FRESHFARM’s farmers market neighborhoods who collect leftover produce from markets each week to feed to those in need. Through the FRESH Food Drive, FRESHFARM uses donations from shoppers and community members to purchase fresh fruits, vegetables, and turkeys from local farmers for our vulnerable neighbors. The FRESH Food Drive has the added benefit of providing additional income to small farmers while ensuring that our neighbors in need have access to fresh, wholesome food.
FRESHFARM will be collecting donations throughout the month, and purchasing food at market for their gleaning partners the week before Thanksgiving. Make a donation today, or stop by the market information tent to donate and enjoy a cup of hot cider. Across the city, FRESHFARM’s gleaning partners include DC Central Kitchen, Miriam's Kitchen, Thrive DC, First Church of Christ Holiness, Iona Senior Services, Arlington Food Assistance Center, and Shepherd's Table.
